Churchmen Demand Spankers ResignLOS ANGELES. Dec. 16. -- Resolutions condemning the chastisement of the young son of the Rev. Raker P. Lee, rector of Christ Episcopal church, by teachers of the Harvard military school here, and demanding that they be discharged, have been adopted by the vestry and rectors' guild of the church. Copies have been sent to Bishop Johnson asking that he move toward securing the teachers' dismissal. The Lee boy was paddled when, the school authorities said, other means of correction had failed. His father secured the arrest of three teachers, including Headmaster Gooden, on battery charges. The affair has engendered much factional strife, here. |
