PENANG, Saturday.
A 15-YEAR-OLD boy, who stabbed another boy for "staring" at him, was ordered to be given six strokes of the rotan.
In addition, the senior Sessions Court president, Mr. K. Somasundram, ordered the boy to be sent to the Henry Gurney School for three years.
"You have committed a serious offence and you must be punished severely for it," Mr. Somasundram told the boy.
Two other youths charged jointly with him were said to be still at large.
They were alleged to have caused hurt to Tan Choon Heng in Bridge Street on the morning of Dec. 16.Hot words
ASP Gurcharan Singh, prosecuting, said that about 10 a.m. on Dec. 16 when Tan walked past a group of gamblers playing cards in Bridge Street, three youths, including the accused, stopped him and asked why he was staring at them.
Hot words ensued and during the quarrel, the accused whipped out a knife and attacked Tan. The other two youths attacked Tan with sticks.
Tan, who suffered cuts on his right arm, ran away and later reported to the police who arrested the accused the following day.About this website
