Jailed for larceny from person
Errol Bucknell, 18, labourer of 21 Salt Lane was sentenced by Resident Magistrate Mr Boyd Carey in the Sutton Street court yesterday to six weeks hard labour and to receive six strokes of the tamarind switch after he was found guilty of larceny from the person.
Bucknell it was alleged had earlier stolen a wallet containing $21.50 (about £7.3/6) from Miriam J. Olson of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Harbour Street and was chased and caught by Ruel Gregory and Eric Boulden, messengers employed to [sic] Cable and Wireless Ltd.
The police rescued him from a crowd who had begun to beat him and he was taken before the court.
