The Toronto Daily Star, 17 April 1926, p.3Given 10 Strokes of StrapClarence Gamble, who was convicted on March 23 of an assault and another serious offense, and was remanded for psychiatrical examination, was sentenced by Judge Coatsworth in sessions yesterday to 18 months definite and six months intermediate less one day in the Ontario Reformatory, also to ten strokes of the strap, to be administered during the second month of the term. The Toronto Daily Star, 19 April 1926, p.17Gets Ten Straps, Also Five YearsFive years in Kingston penitentiary on each of six counts, three years on a sixth and two on a seventh, to run concurrently, with ten strokes of the strap at the end of the second month's imprisonment, was the sentence given to Russell McKenzie by Judge Coatsworth in general sessions to-day. The eight charges are of breaking into houses and committing serious offenses. On three of them life imprisonment might be given, his honor stated. McKenzie has a criminal record dating back to 1911, and has served two terms at the jail farm. |
